Wine bar appeal leads 130 to self-isolate as more locations identified

More than 130 people who visited a wine bar, identified as a high risk location for Covid-19, are now self-isolating after an appeal on Tuesday.

Anyone who attended the Truth Wine & Tapas bar on Parliament Street in Ramsey, on either New Year’s Eve or Saturday 2 January, was asked to self-isolate immediately.

The venue was identified as a high risk location after an individual, who was identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, tested positive for Covid-19.

This individual is known to have been in the premises on two separate evenings:

Thursday 31 December 2020 – 17:00 pm to 01:00 am

Saturday 2 January 2021 – 17:00 pm to 23:45 pm

Dr Henrietta Ewart, Director of Public Health, said:

‘Thank you to everyone who has responded and been so responsible. More than 130 people, who visited the bar on the dates and times specified, are now self-isolated and awaiting tests.

‘If anyone else was at the venue please contact COVID-111 for further advice.’

In addition, 14 further locations have been identified that pose a low risk of contracting COVID-19 for people who visited on the dates and times listed below.

Dr Ewart, added:

‘People who visited these venues do not need to self-isolate. However, if people were at these locations we ask them to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, including fever of any grade, cough or difficulty breathing, for 14 days from the date they were there. If they develop symptoms they should self-isolate immediately and call COVID-111 for further advice.’

The businesses that have been visited do not need to take any action in relation to this.
