It was announced today that Manx Telecom is to buy isleofman.com, one of the Island’s leading news and community websites. First launched in 2001 by the Duke Group of companies as a tourism directory and information website, isleofman.com was bought in 2006 by Duke Marketing’s former Finance Director, David Le Prevost. Today, the website offers a mix of general news, information on community events and Manx heritage topics and genealogy, a tourist guide, plus a business directory with advertising for motors and property. David Le Prevost is to leave the company to follow other interests, and the operations will be merged without redundancies, reflecting the relative strengths of the two businesses.

Commenting, Mike Dee, Manx Telecom’s CEO, said:
“We have admired isleofman.com over the years, particularly the way it has grown to offer such comprehensive coverage of news and events about the Island. Currently, it ranks number one with Google for the search term ‘Isle of Man’ and that’s a great tribute to David Le Prevost and his team. We are determined to build on what has been achieved so far, to ensure that the isleofman.com website will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Responding, isleofman.com Managing Director, David Le Prevost, said:
“Everyone here has put so much effort into isleofman.com over the years, and I’m so pleased that Manx Telecom is to take over something we are very proud of. I’m particularly glad that key members of staff will be retained, and I wish those choosing new pastures the best for the future. I’ve no doubt that the site will be in good hands. Going forward, I’m certain that under Manx Telecom’s stewardship it will be possible to consolidate isleofman.com’s position as a leading source of information, not only for those who live and work on the Island, but also for those who want to know about all things Manx, and to visit the Isle of Man.”
