After 18 months of development, the Isle of Man Council of Voluntary Organisations launched their online gateway service, in partnership with Isle of Man Dotcom, offering CVO members free listings and the opportunity to upgrade so they can share news and events with the Island’s online audience.

The CVO was founded in 2007 and is made up from charity, voluntary and faith groups. Its main aims are to allow CVO members to work together to influence local policy and represent third sector organisation, to share best practice and resources for the benefit of the community. Alex Wilson, Gateway Co-ordinator, said “this opportunity to raise the profile and web presence of local organisations is a welcome development and shows what can be achieved through joint working”.

The event was held on Friday 28 January, at the new imuseum, a digital research facility that opens in March. The imuseum will be a fantastic place for members of the public to be able to view photographs of local places, film and sound archives, parish registers, census returns and property deeds and search local newspapers from the 1700’s onwards.
