GP Patient Access, the digital facility that is designed to allow individuals to view their own health information online, has broken through a key performance target.
More than 20% of the eligible population is now using the online app to access a range of GP services, including booking and amending appointments, view and ordering repeat medications, and viewing immunisations, prescribed medications and allergies.
GP Patient Access also allows users to share their whole record with a clinician or relative for a 24 hour period.
To help this number to grow, changes to all GP contracts have been made which mean that each practice will be required to ensure that 20% of their practice population is registered for GP online services by the end of September 2018.
Commenting on the continued success of the service, Annmarie Cubbon, Head of Primary Care Commissioned Services, said:
‘It’s extremely pleasing to see GP Patient Access break through this important milestone. More and more people are realising just how simple the app is to use, and how much easier it makes managing so many important parts of their healthcare.’
