Marketers in the Isle of Man will have the opportunity to hone their internet advertising skills on Thursday 21st July when Damien Clothier visits the Island to present an advanced Pay per Click Workshop, sponsored by Contintent8 Technologies.
The workshop is the latest in a continuing series of events organised by the Island’s branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to help marketers improve their skills whilst networking with fellow marketing practitioners. The event is being held at the Sefton Hotel, with registration opening at 12.30 prior to the workshop commencing at 13.00 and finishing at 14.00. The workshop is open to CIM Members, their guests and non-members.
Pay per click has evolved to become one of the most prominent forms on online advertising, in a business model most famously associated with Google, whose search engine advertising operates on a pay per click system. Pay per click gives marketers the advantage of only paying for advertisements on a per click basis rather than a flat rate for ‘blanket’ advertising on a webpage. It also has the added advantages of enabling the advertiser to monitor click through and conversions, helping to improve return on investment.
As pay per click has become more widespread and sophisticated, an entire industry has evolved and many large online organisations now appoint people who focus solely on this promotional area of marketing. Many of the Island’s businesses, particularly in the burgeoning e-Gaming sector also utilise pay per click as one of their primary promotional tools.
The speaker, Damien Clothier has recently been appointed Head of Marketing (UK & Ireland) at CMC Markets, where he manages online and offline acquisition and retention campaigns. Formerly Head of Paid Search at Paddy Power, one of the world’s largest betting and gaming groups, Damien’s experience within pay per click advertising is extensive. In the workshop, Damien will use his experience in the e-Gaming sector to explore the issues surrounding setting up, executing and running successful pay per click campaigns to maximise business results.
Gavin Smith, Chair of the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, said: "Pay per click advertising is of increasing importance to marketers as they look to successfully promote their services and make sales. This form of advertising has the added benefits of enabling business to closely monitor their return on investment though being able to follow ‘clicks’ from an advert all the way through to the actual sale. Needless to say this is a great help to marketing managers at a time when budgets are being tightened and the scrutiny on promotional spending is high.
“Damien’s vast experience and knowledge in this area should prove valuable to the Island’s marketers, more and more of whom have come to adopt this increasingly successful advertising tool. I hope the Island’s many marketers, whether members of CIM or not, will take advantage of this opportunity and join us on the 21st July."
Pre-booking for the workshop is required, which can be done online via the CIM website www.cim.co.uk/isleofman , or by contacting CIM via e-mail on cimevents@cim.co.uk or by phone on 01628 427340 01628 427340. Free for CIM Members and £25 for non-Members.
